The Majorettes (1986)

Action,Crime,Horror,Thriller
Set in a small suburban town in western Pennsylvania, a camouflage-clad serial killer has begun mysteriously killing the members of the school's majorette squad under the guise of "saving their souls" before they reach adulthood. In the opening scene, a group of majorettes perform a dance number in their high school gym while having their photos taken for the school newspaper. Nearby the local janitor Harry (Harold K. Keller) watches. That night, pregnant teenager and majorette Nicole Hendricks (Jacqueline Bowman) is among the first victims, who is attacked and murdered alongside her boyfriend Tommy Harvack (Colin Martin) while they are making out in Tommy's parked car in the nearby woods. Her body is found the next morning lying on the shore of a creek while Tommy is found near his parked car. Sheriff Braden (Mark V. Jevicky) and Detective Roland Martell (Carl Hetwick) investigate the killings.Meanwhile, Roland is having a secret romantic affair with teenager and majorette Marie Morgan (Mary Jo Limpert), a friend of Nicole.Elsewhere, majorette Vicky McAllister (Terri Godfrey) lives with her rich but invalid grandmother and her grandmother's housekeeper, Helga Schuler (Denise Huot). Unknown to Vicky, Helga and her son, who happens to be Harry (a pervert who spies on Vicky and her fellow majorette friends in the locker room showers and takes nude photos of them) poisoned her grandmother (rendering her paralyzed, mute, and utterly helpless) and murdered Vicky's parents years earlier. Helga has re-written the grandmother's will to inherit everything if Vicky and her grandmother die, but a small catch can foil the entire plot: Due to an irrevocable clause in the original will that had to be left intact in the forged revised will, if Vicky dies before her 18th birthday, the grandmother's fortune will go to the state without an adult heir left alive to inherit.Another evening later, another majorette, named Barbara, is murdered in her parents swimming pool. While investigating this latest killing, Roland suspects that there is a significance to the fact that the victims are being found in water.... in which he surmises it has a symbolic significance, akin to a baptismal purification ritual. Roland questions a local preacher (Russell Streiner) about his sermons and baptismal rites that he performs for his church and suspects that the killer may be one of the parishioners.Meanwhile, Vicky and her boyfriend Jeff Halloway (Kevin Kindlin) suspect that a local criminal biker gang, led by Mace Jackson (Tom E. Deschroder), may be responsible for the killings and inform Police Sergeant Sanders (Bill Hinzman) and Detective Roland about their suspicions. The next day, the masked killer strikes again when he attacks and murders another majorette, named Shirley, in the showers in the girls locker room, where Harry stumbles upon the killing and takes photos from the air vents after the victim momentarily pulls off the killer's hood before dying.... revealing it to be Sheriff Braden. The body is found by Jeff and Vicky who call the police.Helga and Harry lure Sheriff Braden to their house where they ambush and subdue him after revealing the incriminating photos of him. While questioning him, Helga and Harry discover that the Sheriff is a religious fanatic who is murdering the majorette squad before they turn 18 so that they will stay pure and not become sinful adults who have pre-marital sex or do drugs. They instruct the sheriff that he is to kill Vicky for the pair, but only after she turns 18 in one week so they can steal the entire family fortune. At the school parking lot, Mace and his gang arrive and kidnap Vicky for ratting him out to the local authorities after he reveals that he was been having an affair with Barbara, the majorette killed in her parents swimming pool. Mace and his gang bring Vicky to a nearby warehouse to rape and kill her. Jeff tries to intervene, but ends up being a captive himself. In the confusion of Vicky's abduction, Harry arrives having owed money to Mace when in a series of events, a shootout happens where Harry as well as Vicky are shot and killed and Jeff is wounded. Playing dead, he waits until the gang leaves the warehouse and seeing that Vicky is dead, vows revenge against the gang. The movie then changes pace into an action film when Jeff accrues a large number of weapons from his parents house and stages a one-man assault against the biker's hideout in the nearby woods to kill Mace and all of his gang. In a climatic series of explosions that Jeff sets off and him literally gunning down dozens of armed bikers, Jeff then chases Mace into the woods where in a final confrontation, kills the gang leader. The shootout and Jeff's hospitalization leads to further confusion among the police and investigators. It is here that after Helga learns about her son's death by the biker gang, she follows through with her plans by killing Vicky's grandmother and then plots to expose the sheriff for the murders, only that Sheriff Braden turns the tables on his blackmailer by strangling Helga and sets it up to look like a suicide, while at the same time destroys the photographic evidence proving him to be the killer. The Sheriff subsequently frames the now-dead Harry for the murders, as he had a history of being a peeping tom. Some time later, Sheriff Braden watches a female coach train a young group of elementary school girls to be majorettes. In the clear and having gotten away with his crimes, it is implied that sooner or later Sheriff Braden will re-start his killing spree against more majorettes when they come of age to save them from committing the evils of adolescence involving sex, drugs and sin.
